CONTRACT INFORMATION AND POLICIES

LAST UPDATED ON 04/01/2024

Thank you for choosing Longmont Driving School! We believe that our programs are comprehensive and outstanding. Our school is certified by the Department of Revenue, and our curriculum is approved by the state of Colorado.

The information below outlines our policies, expectations, and our contract with you, the customer. Purchasing our products is your agreement to abide by the rules set out here. This agreement constitutes the entire contract between you (and your student) and us (Longmont Driving School) and any verbal assurances or promises not contained herein are not binding on either the school or the student.

COMPLETE INSTRUCTION PROGRAM

The package price of $575 includes a 30-hour class, a permit test, and 6 (six) hours of behind-the-wheel (BTW) driving lessons. Each driving coupon-code is unique, and cannot be transferred to another student. The driving coupon-code is valid for 2 (two) years from the date of issue.

CLASSROOM

The package price for a 30-hour class and a permit test is $195. Available upcoming class dates can be found at www.longmontdrivingschool.com. Classes are given over 4 (four) days, from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Students need to attend 1800 minutes of class to complete the state requirement. Breaks and lunch do not count towards the requirement. Any missed time must be made up. See the instructor to learn if you are eligible to do homework for some of the minutes, or if you must attend time in the next scheduled class.

Webex classes require students to be on camera throughout the class. No cell phone usage is allowed during instruction.

PERMIT TEST

The price for a permit test is $30. Available upcoming dates and times can be found at www.longmontdrivingschool.com.

BEHIND-THE-WHEEL (BTW) DRIVING LESSONS

The price for a 2-hour driving lesson is $150. Available upcoming dates and times can be found at www.longmontdrivingschool.com.

A valid and unexpired permit or license is required regardless of age. Accepted versions of the permit are:

  • the plastic card

  • the temporary paper version (within 30 days of issue)

  • the electronic version in the MyColorado app

Pictures or photocopies are not accepted. Instructors will work with only 1 (one) student per session—the only backseat passenger allowed is another instructor, for training purposes. Under this agreement an instructor may not provide behind-the-wheel training to more than two individual students per session. Session times are in 2-hour blocks. Exceptions are only made with prior approval of our office.

Students need to be 1 (one) or 2 (two) minutes early for their appointment for check-in. Students will abide by the current health requirements of Boulder County.

Student cell phones are only allowed in the car if turned off. No app tracking or airplane mode is accepted. Our preference is for students to leave phones with their parents/guardians. Medical exceptions allowed.

No weapons of any sort are allowed in the car during lessons or testing. All pocket knives, cans of mace, or any other weapon is to be left outside of the vehicle being used by our employees.

Instructors will talk with parents before and after lessons to gain and share information about the student’s progress. Please be ready to meet for a few minutes before and after the lesson.

Students need to wear shoes which attach to their feet—no flip flops, crocs, or high-heels. There are cables and springs under the dashboard to connect the brake system to the instructor side, so care needs to be given as to footwear.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

All paperwork is filed with the state of Colorado system upon completion of the mandated 6 (six) hours. Students over the age of 16.5 (sixteen and 1/2) will not have hours logged into the state system. If you are doing less than 6 (six) hours of BTW driving lessons and are under 16.5 years old, please inform our office on the day of the lesson so that we may enter your paperwork. A Certificate of Completion for insurance purposes will be created and emailed upon request.

LICENSE TEST (BOST) - a mask-required service

The price for a license test is $80. Available upcoming dates and times can be found at www.longmontdrivingschool.com. Drive tests are administered in our company cars, unless required by the state of Colorado (Interlock/modified vehicle). Our fleet is made of Toyota Prius 2019 or later with an automatic transmission. The price of testing includes all car maintenance and insurance, the time of the tester during the test, and the detailed debrief upon return. All applicants under 18 are required to have a parent/guardian present for the debrief. Each appointment is 30 minutes long, with the drive test taking about 20 minutes. License tests can be cancelled without penalty up to 12 hours in advance. Applicants more than 10 minutes late will not be able to test that day, will lose their appointment and forfeit their payment.

INTERLOCK TESTING

Some applicants are required to test in their own car. If an applicant has a Restricted Instruction Permit, they must provide the vehicle needed for testing because of the needed equipment. In addition to bringing the unexpired and valid permit, the registration (matching VIN and license plates), and proof of insurance, the car must pass the following safety expectations:

  • Good tires

  • Windshield with clear vision (cracks are allowed depending on location)

  • Passenger door opens from the inside and the window rolls down

  • Working seatbelts

  • Working speedometer (tester’s phone will be used in case of malfunction)

  • Non-expired license plates attached to the front and back of the vehicle—depending on state of issue (temporary plates are only on the rear)

BAD WEATHER

When bad weather is forecast in our area, we will reach out to students via email. Due to the changing Colorado weather, we will not automatically cancel appointments based on a weather forecast. If you wish to change appointments ahead of weather, you must contact our office during business hours, more than 24 hours in advance. If the roads are icy and/or snow-packed, we reserve the right to cancel and reschedule drives at no cost to the customer. Our office will reach out to customers individually on inclement weather days. Should an applicant wish to test on such a day, they will be reminded of the Slip/Spin/Slide rule in effect on all tests. See our posting for more details.

CANCELLATION

  • 30-hour class: Classes can be cancelled and refunded without penalty up to 48 hours in advance.

  • Permit test: Permit tests can be cancelled and refunded without penalty up to 24 hours in advance.

  • Behind-the-wheel (BTW) driving lesson: Driving lessons tests can be cancelled and refunded without penalty up to 24 hours in advance. We understand that sometimes sickness happens within this timeframe. If you are within the 24-hour timeframe, you must call AND email us. We will try to find a replacement for your student. If we can’t find a replacement, you will be offered another lesson for $80. You may also join our last-minute list (for cases of cancellations) and fill in for someone with little notice. If you choose this option, your appointment will be rescheduled at no charge, and we will contact you when we have a last-minute cancellation.

  • License test: License tests can be cancelled and refunded without penalty up to 12 hours in advance. Interlock cars must meet safety standards—see "INTERLOCK TESTING" above—and failure to pass the safety inspection in our parking lot is considered forfeiting the appointment. The tester will take care of this on a case-by-case basis.
